Counseling
and Psychological Studies
The Department of Counseling and Psychological Studies offers
programs leading to the Master of Arts degree with specialization
in school counseling and community counseling. The curricula
of this department develop competency in counseling, stimulate
original research, and serve the educational enterprise with
creative programming.
Programs
in Counseling and Psychological Studies
M.A. in Counseling (School Counseling Concentration): This program develops
professional personnel for service as counselors in elementary
and secondary schools. Graduates of the program are eligible
for certification as school counselors in the State of Georgia.
M.A. in Counseling (Community Counseling concentration): Students
in this program are trained as counselors for community agencies
and mental health clinics. The program also qualifies individuals
to serve as psychotherapists and clinicians in mental health
clinics.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the general requirements of the University
and the School of Education.
Credit Hour Requirements
M.A. Degree: Completion of a minimum of forty-eight (48)
credit hours of course work.
